Our Trials

As a unit of clan origin, we must continue to uphold the tradition of our clan history, so that we never forget who we are. One day we will restore our honor and wear our honor with pride once again. The following is a list of the trials we observe.

We are the unspoken, The Clan Wolverine.

Trial of Entrance

In this Trial a Cadet fights for the right to join the clan.

After completing a 2 week period, a cadet may be considered for a
Trial of Entrance.

After The Nova Col decides a cadet is ready, all officers from the rank of Colonel up to the Khan are to be emailed together. At this time any of these upper officers may

Blackball
the cadet, and his entry shall be blocked. The Cadet is never to be told who blocked his entry. If Blackballed, the Cadet's name shall at that time be removed from all rosters.

After having spent at least 2 weeks as a cadet and having been signed off on by the Nova Col and having passed the Blackball test, the Cadet may fight the Trial of entrance.

NOTE: The Weaponsmaster may change these settings as he or she may see fit.

The ToE consists of 2 Stages

I. Interview Stage

  • Conducted on the Zone.

  • Any WS are allowed to witness.

  • No-one is allowed to talk to the Cadet except the current Judge.

  • Each Judge must be Star Captain rank or higher

  • Each Judge has 15 minutes to ask the cadet questions on the topic assigned to him.

  • The Judges will remain anonymous, and will be logged on under non-WS zone names.

  • Judge 1 - History of WS. This is designed to cover the cadet's knowledge of WS, it's history, it's founders, the leagues it's played in, notable battles etc.

  • Judge 2 - Tactics. This is designed to cover the cadets knowledge of tactics, piloting, gunnery, weapons, mechs, maps etc.

  • Judge 3 - Character - This trial tests the cadets resolve, devotion to WS, strength and intelligence.

  • At the end of the Interview the Judges vote on whether the Cadet has passed. A unanimous 3-0 is required for the cadet to pass.

The second stage of the ToE is the Battle Stage.

II. Battle Stage:

This will consist of three battle trials

  • Can be done immediately after the interview, or a few days after. Must be conducted a maximum of 7 days after the Interview unless exceptional circumstances arise.

After successfully completing the ToE, you will be awarded MechWarrior Pilot Status .

Pilot Status

As a member of WS, you may move your status upward by the number of enemy kills you obtain. These are kills that are recorded during league battles.

The following status' are available. You may wear the emblem behind your name if you choose but it is not required.

(R) Rookie 0-10 kills

(V) Veteran 10-30 kills

(+) Elite 30+ kills

~(+)~ Battle Master

50+ kills, must also have bloodname to qualify.

Trial of Position

A Trial of Position is a trial in which any member of WS may advance into a higher rank of the unit up to St.Cmd once a position becomes available. The candidate will Trial against an Officer of equal rank to obtain the desired rank. The Witness will be of no less rank than a St.Captain. The candidate may choose his opponent in which to Trial against. If more than 1 candidate wishes to Trial for the same position, then both will Trial against an officer of equal rank to the position being Trialed for in a best 3/5 battle. All battles will take place on SNOW JOB with normal settings. If both candidates are victorious over the acting Officer, then both candidates will trial against one another with the same conditions to determine the overall victor, who will then obtain the open rank.

Any Core member that wishes to ToP for a higher rank within their star, must inform their StCmd that they wish to do so. The StCmd is in charge of their own star and any ToP's within. The ToP must be against the Ranking StCmd officer. If a core member wishes to ToP for another rank in another star they must first notify their ranking officer and the ranking officer of the Star they wish to transfer to, to ToP.

The outcome of all ToP's must be immediately sent to the entire Keshik for notification and changes to be made. It is the responsibility of the Witness to do so. All mechs used in the ToP may be
stock configs only, following all rules of the League. The Cadet must be in the Clan a minimum of 1 week before they are allowed to attempt a ToP. If for any reason a dispute over the ToP becomes apparent, than a ToG
(Trial of Grievance) may be issued to the Keshik. It will then be up to the Keshik to determine whether or not a new ToP shall take place or a battle against the 2 people having the dispute. All ToG's will be witnessed by either the Khan or SaKhan. All outcomes are final!

Challenge option..... any mechwarrior or above may challenge any officer of the rank of StCmd or St Lt, provided that he or she has an equal or greater number of career kills and equal bloodname status than the officer to be challenged. In other words to challenge an officer who possesses a bloodname, you must have a bloodname as well as equal his or her number of career kills. But if the officer you wish to challenge does not have a bloodname, you need only have an equal number of career kills.

Star Captains and above may not be challenged for rank, as their ranks are appointed by the Khan. There is however one exception. A Star Commander who possesses a Bloodname may challenge a captain provided he or she has an equal or greater number of career kills than the captain to be challenged.

Officers of Colonel and above may never be challenged, to do so is a direct insult to the Keshik.

The reason for the challenge option is to keep warriors active and viable. It also keeps doors from being closed to fine, aggressive upcoming officers.

All Candidates must have a ping no higher than 800

Trial of BloodRight

Clann mo Theaghlaich

Clann mo Theaghlaich fhien

(The children of my family

The children of my own family)

Our Clan and our family! Nothing is more precious to the Wolverines.

Our Bloodnames are a symbol of the blood and the bond that binds us all.

These names passed down to us from the original mechwarriors who served with General Kerensky, men and women who left the inner Sphere to follow the dream of Star League.

Only Clan Wolverine of all the Kerensky Clans have regularly allowed freeborn warriors to compete for bloodnames. We remember lest others forget, that only the best may attain that honour. And how can one be the best if brother warriors, Clansmen, are prevented from testing themselves against you.

Though some of those names have been extinguished, their genetic legacy lost to us, our hopes live on in the names of blood we have and hold.

A trial of bloodright shall be undertaken in the following manner.

Warriors of the Clan who can demonstrate a bloodlink to the name and whose deeds place them worthy of this great honour shall step forth and declare their worth before the Clan. Warriors should think carefully about the bloodname they apply for, and whether they wish to wait for the chance at a different name.

A ladder style tournament shall take place with all battles being 1v1.

The Oathmaster for the trial shall take the warriors tokens and place them in the run.

The Oathmaster flipping a coin or other random method to choose the hunter, and the hunted, shall simulate this.

The Hunter chooses whether to fight augmented or unaugmented.

The Hunter choosing the weight class shall simulate this.

The Hunted will choose map/visibility and all other environmental variables.

This may be carried out several days before the actual battle, to allow both warriors to prepare.

Fighting will be Force First Person, and one life only. (the server will be set at 2 lives to ensure double kills are witnessed)

Warriors may choose any mech of the weight type or lower.

Weapon limitations – Clan technology will be limited to Clan mechs, whilst IS tech will be limited to IS mechs. Any warrior choosing to use IS tech may take a mech of one weight class higher.

The Warriors may agree upon further limitations such as Stock mechs, specific mechs or specific weapons, and any limitations suggested by the Houseleader (senior Bloodnamed warrior of that name) should be seriously considered, but are not compulsory.

Timelimits shall be set as high as possible. In the event of a draw (both mechs surviving to max time or both dying in a double kill), the match shall be re-dropped.

In the event that battles do not take place with in a reasonable time frame, the Khan may declare that battle void and appoint a winner, or a champion to replace the winner in the ladder. Warriors shall receive one warning by email with a "battle by" date. After this date the time lapse shall be declared unreasonable as that battle is holding up the rest of the tourney.

The following are the WS Bloodnames. There are only 7, so only 14 players total may wear one.

Breen, Vryce, Pulsar, Moffet, Supreme, Hallis and McEvedy
