The Battles of WS....
All MW2 major battles
First Cycle of MAUL
Battle with DDC 9/27/98 26-29
How long it had been since the unspoken ones rode into battle.
The Dropships of the mighty DDC filled the skies over Strana.
The Wolverines with only a handful of veterans and rookies stood poised for the battle, and on that day the Strana Mechy Shook with the thunder of our mechs and a path to glory was begun. The Mighty DDC would find a challenge they had never expected.
Veterans would once again feel the sting of battle so long awaited.
Rookies would look to their veteran brethren for confidence moments before they'd drop to the smoke filled world below, palms sweating with the thrill of combat awaiting them. One rookie turned to the leader of the Wolverines and asked for a mech that would take him through it. The leader tossed him the keys to a fast old summoner that had seen days long ago, and before that day was over that old summoner would bring him home alive and with kills for the board.
That Battle raged on for many hours and nobody really knew who the victor would be, the tiny WS was surprising them all. Black smoke filled the air, choking any pilots who dared eject from their doomed machines. And yet the blinding lite of lasers and the blaze of missile thrusters cut through the darkened air. Those who stood witness would become deafened by the sound of great trampling machines on the earth and explosions that rang out as chunks of their massive armor tore away.
The smashed chassis and limbs of mechs, and the bones of the fallen on both sides littered the ground. And when all was quiet the great DDC rose victorious by a single round, never having expected to pay so dearly for their victory. Both sides collected the bodies of their fallen and paid respect to their enemies. As this was truly a glorious day for all...........

Enter a new Loremaster.
The morning found Wolverine Solutions poised on the field of battle with Clan Star Adder.
Rookies and veterans with hands clammy, butterflies fighting for freedom from stomachs.
WS is a new team this their second battle, if you can call someone a veteran after a
single battle
maybe just a little presumptuous.
Pre-combat banter abounded. Making lite of danger death and destruction, wanting the
combat to come, wanting to be anywhere but here.
Enemy sighted - Enemy engaged - No more worries - butterflies have fled.
Laser light fills the field - missile streak to targets - AMS whines - jump jets ignite.
armor shredding - arms flying - legs falling - torsos twisting.
moments of silence - deafening explosions - bright lights - and periods of darkness.
battle plan - what battle plan - action and reaction - what needs to be done is done,
or death results -
Wolverines, Adders - makes no difference - weakness knows no favorites.
skill honor - to the houses - of the brave - and the strong.
failures litter the field - winners litter the field - the lucky still stand - the unlucky
have fallen.
Wolverines have fallen - Adders prevail - rookies become veterans - veterans gain more
experience.
honor to our foe - honor to WS - we learn from experience - we will fight again.

BWR an old and skilled unit. Traces their heritage to the
old Star League. They chose not to join us as we left the Inner Sphere.
Traitors we still think them as, inferiors to the Wolverines.
We meet as enemies - faced in battle - they should have come with our honored brothers and
sisters
the past is the past - We remember that is enough.
Mechs upon the field of battle not unlike the pieces of an ancient game from Terra
Strategy, moves, counter moves. The high ground is sought after. He who holds
the high ground is the victor, usually, hopefully...
The Black Watch press - Wolverines give ground.
Wolverines regroup and attack - BWR gives a little - BWR holds
moving and counter moving - both sides test for weaknesses in the line of the other.
Wolverines press again - this time gaining more real estate - shedding blood for the
right.
The Black Watch do not want to give any more. There they stand defying the
Wolverines
Planning and execution it all comes down to this. One last push for the high ground
Wolverines push bite scratch - use every means at their disposal
in the end invent a couple of more - Too late
One battered BWR mech stands on the high ground.
Wolverines can only stand and watch - Some from broken mechs
Some from the sidelines. Some from the great battle field in the heavens
Others from nowhere as we do not believe in the hereafter
So close - We have fought valiantly again. Only to fall short - again
underestimating our foe - deadly for us. Lucky for them - inferiors no longer

another batch of inferior genetics standing between us and victory
our battles now - weekly - forcing pilots - and Techs into frenzied preparation
gearing to the next fight - fore the next fight is here
one second - the only sound is the low droning of our reactors
suddenly - its not so quiet - laser fire fills the air
bright light - almost blinding - laser and missile
misses chewing the ground - cratering the earth
large enough to hide a mech - mechs take to the air to avoid the craters
dancing - twirling - dealing damage - to their airborne partners
pieces of mechs raining upon the combatants below
molten metal - falling - splattering the field and mechs
causing more damage
Looks to be another close fight - few mechs standing - on either side
the edge is not in our favor - we gave as good as we got - they had more

The air was hot as hell.
The kind of oppressive heat that makes one think of the coldest day in relief.
As if that was not bad enough, gravity was a quarter more than normal.
Making one feel as if the world was on your shoulders
Mechs stood, the light glistening off the armor as if they were sweating.
Clan Star Adder our foe once again.
Did we learn anything from our last meeting? Time would tell.
A more experienced Wolverine Solutions talked prebattle strategy
The younger members made nonsensical chatter - the veterans wanted them to listen.
did anything sink in? Time will tell
No battle plan withstands contact with the enemy. One of the oldest rules of combat.
True with this one as well. You plan, practice, and drill until you can pilot in
your sleep
and you still have to fight off panic when the first shots come raining down upon you.
WS mechs, fresh from refit after grueling battle with the Blue Panthers,
inhabited the streets of Valor - buildings towering like the sides of a mountain
we are off in a game of wolverine and snake, looking for action
Action - it was here a plenty - First detected CSA on radar.
Not far now. - Around this building, - sidestepping another,
when are we going to have a clear field of fire?
time will tell
Targets in sight - too close for comfort - counting the seconds until missile lock
fire fire fire.
refocus switch to lasers. - evade evade
how many lasers are firing back?
time will tell
Initially it Seems as if we are facing 10 times our number
but our forces are equal in count
jump, get out of the kill zone.
reengage - oh baby - things are getting hotter
is that even possible? you guessed it....
time will tell
mechs shedding armor like sweat dripping from everywhere
there was a big drop - a whole arm - there a leg
pieces of buildings exploding from overshots
creating an unnatural dust storm
if it were not for sensors we would be blind
we split up our forces trying to get CSA to come out and play
tired of hunting like the wolverines we are
rooting around - the tactic works for some - others pay dearly
Did we learn anything from our last battle?
time did tell
CSA apparently had more to teach us.
Well we are young and have a lifetime to learn
Next time we meet maybe we will be the teacher

Battle with WX
Our Clan has grown
the latest sibko online
we will test them here
Our enemy is most like us
a feared Clan in exile
trying to rebuild and regain honor
Trying to go home
We meet on the streets of Valor
do we and our foe still have
and can we conduct ourselves with?
So we start
playing hide and seek
did we bring the right weapon loads
do we have the technique?
The Wolverines find themselves
in a battle not unlike those of old
with guerrillas in the mist
a missile spread comes flying in
there is no enemy in sight
The anti-missile systems firing constantly
like the buzzing of insects in the summer
chewing pieces of buildings
trying to keep their mech alive
Sighted an enemy mech
launching missiles
firing lasers
evading same
watching as a cockpit ejects
another enemy mech down
The enemy is dying before our eyes
we are taking more of them than are losing
yet we still are not winning
for every mech we kill
there are two more willing to fight
able to fight
we give our all
our fiercest warrior wings are
keeping us in the fight
Johnny Pulsar and Toadkiller Dog
destroying all that stand against us
one last push we have in us
our fierce warriors watching
as we let our newest
decide our fate
they have learned well
they did not disgrace us
we are pleased
we will fight again

Battle with DDC
Our Techs and MechWarriors work though the night preparing for our next battle
just hours away
Defenders of the Dixie Cups what can be said about them?
they are here - they want to kill us - they are many - they have honor
Who would have thought it possible - honor in an enemy
not of a clan in nature - honor to our enemy - they teach us more than any other
Less than a day since our last fight - many warriors are paying the price
many wanting to fight are sidelined - Not the most ideal conditions for battle
morale is high
We are Clan Wolverine - we do not complain - we fight
and when not fighting - preparing for the next
Not having a chance to reload - missile racks are empty
DDC always an honorable foe - leaves theirs empty as well
we engage - lasers firing when in range - each mech with wing
watching the other - trying to separate them and theirs
buildings not a hindrance - not much in the way of cover
no chance to hide - and discharge heat - who wants to hide anyway?
what lessons did they teach us? - we are missile dependent
not enough work on lasers - it was apparent from the beginning
another valuable lesson - only costing us a few mechs

Battle with HH
A fortnight has passed - we have paid homage to our warrior elite
bestowing medals and honor - earned in battle
we meet today the Hell's Horses - a new enemy
intelligence has determined - they are inferior
who is not inferior the Clan Wolverine
We are to test their mettle - are they worth fighting?
have they honor? - will they give us a fight?
We are fresh - we have prepared - in our normal fashion
we are ready
We meet our enemy - mech to mech - for the first time
We keep looking for them - to come out of hiding - we realize this is it
there whole battle force
What was to be a battle - becomes a Trial of Absorption - we will take those with promise
killing the rest
To describe the battlewould be a waste of words - not much honor did it bring
Of all the enemy fighting - only two register mech kills
these we will take into the fold - teaching our ways - seeing if they can handle
the pressure of being MechWarriors in Clan Wolverine

Battle with BP
The mornings sun crests - the mountains and hills - surrounding the fighting plane
The glistening dew - formed overnight - sparkles and shines - like lasers blasting
off the armor of a foe
we meet the Blue Panthers - soon
Moral is high - This battle is ours - We have yet to sight - the enemy
We know - deep in our hearts - we have won already
Cannot understand - why they even need to show
Of all opponents to - our dreams and desires - these are the most - inferior - In our eyes
Our second meeting - they actually came - this time - shocking
Their mechs stand off - in the distance - painted a deep blue - with hints of black
suggesting that they - are battered before - we start to give them - the beating they
deserve
the beating they will get
We divide - stalking 2 by 2 - we square off with - each of their wings
Our training and drills - a success - They offered little - resistance
They all found themselves - surrounded - by our clan
blasted and broken - their mechs bleeding - and dying before our eyes
Their armor - might have been tissue - for all the good it did
They did manage to - end the workings of - Seven of our mechs - another shock
Made no difference - in the outcome - forty of theirs - slagged and left - for the
scavengers
Our mechs jumping - high-fiving - a glorious day - why is there the smell - of barbecued
chicken
in the air?

CSA stands before us again - waiting to engage - we are ready - willing, able
We have a few untested warriors looking to taste the blood of a fallen enemy
One second - quiet - the next - sounds abound - enough to overload
all ears and equipment alike
The plan is known - by all who fight - break them into pairs and rip them to shreds
Frustration - the enemy has the same plan - their execution - almost flawless
almost
they have left - an opening - Wolverines exploit - the weak point of their defense
Now the battle is flowing our way our rookies tasting the blood they were hoping for
More frustration - more reserves - fresh troops - fresh mechs
The tide - flows back
Once again we - came close - to stomping them - under the feet of -our mechs
and again - they, CSA had - more tricks to play - more lessons learned
One day soon - we will triumph

A battle with a new enemy
DI
again our Techs worked around the clock, this time however, time was not on our side
The mech of the Loremaster - unfinished - it has been moved - high upon the hill
overlooking the battlefield - giving the perfect vantage point -to witness all that transpires
As usual our Keshik leads - the oldest of friends paired upwinging together
like the dogfighting of old - following some of the newer - MechWarriors
we are hoping one day - they too will learn to lead - finally the raw recruits
today will mold them into - the elite warriors someday - they will come to be
One couldn’t ask for a better view - virtually no obstructions - the whole field of battle
in eyesight - with the help of some - computer imaging
The lead elements meet - firing missiles when a lock is obtained
still running to get into laser range - great chunks of armor and limbs fly off
as the lead elements come into laser range - our potential future leaders enter the fray
with large volleys of missiles - amazingly they do more damage than the Keshik
As the rookies finally get close enough to fire their weapons -
it appears that the Keshik has been hurt - taken out of the fight - seeing this must have angered
the newcomers and veterans - as they tear into the enemy - like our namesake through raw flesh
they just rack up kill after kill - doing all that has been asked of them and more
the wings of Scipio and Roar - with Khaos and Chance
accounted for seventeen downed enemy mechs - with little damage to themselves
truly a glorious showing - they will do great things - the rookies
Mabus and Elisor pairing up for 3 kills - and our resident Shadow Warrior gaining a couple
Leaving our battle elite, high ranking Keshik warriors only three kills
a sad day for the Keshik
a glorious and honored day - for the newest clan members - In the end, in order to save the clan
and fight in the future - our newest warriors - fighting off the enemy - so that those who could
dragged our damaged leaders - to safety - we withdraw leaving the enemy - the field

Woohoo
more Blue Panthers - we just love ripping them to shreds
How they can call themselves a clan - boggles the mind
no discipline - no execution
that they actually can bring a mech - down makes one almost - believe in luck
of course there is only skill - dedication perseverance - they have none
or they have displayed none - makes no difference - so off to battle we go - yet again
From the first shots - it is evident - that this fight will - be as one-sided as
always when fighting the so called clan
Our warriors - placing laser volleys - and missile strikes - with pinpoint precision
their "warriors" - missing with stunning regularity - their mechs staggering around
like puppets with missing strings - We could almost stand in place - and fight this one
without fear - not that we fear anything - common sense tells us - that moving around
even with their poor shooting - decreases the risk of them - hitting anyone
two-thirds of the battle gone - they finally bring down a mech - silly me, was writing this tale
in the cockpit - so sure was I that they couldn’t hit a standing mech
oh well just a little armor - some arms - hey no big deal - makes for a great story
told by the fire - over drinks and song - the battle?
oh yeah...well they brought down - a few of us - less than one for every three of theirs
destroyed
seconds after I found myself floating in the air - damn auto-eject shutoff - the battle ended
As I walked to the fire - I put the finishing touches on - this tale
grabbing a brew - I sat - gained the attention of - my brother warriors - and started...

I have put this part and the next of the Remembrance together from information gathered by listening to fireside tales as I was off on a personal mission so sure of our domination of the SLDF
we sent only six warriors into battle
I never did learn how we chose the warriors who fought that day
It was a mix between the old and the young - elite veterans and newly anointed
Our Khan Badger Breen - the most exhaulted Galaxy Commander - Damien Vryce
Star Captain KhaosLives - and three MechWarriors
Sixpack, Spanky and StarAdder
the only warriors for the Wolverines - I would list our enemies in this glorious battle
but no one remembers - and further no one seems to care
Our six against their legion - just knowing this - the story would have to be excellent
The dream of all warriors - a battle with great odds - that our warriors prevailed
makes for an even better dream - so as we enter this dream we find our warriors
sitting in their cockpits - staring at their sensors - awaiting the enemy
enemy ho -- dead center - just where we wanted them
nice when a plan comes together - that the enemy did what the were supposed to
made this whole dream come true - they died just like planned
the execution was typical Wolverine - the enemy picked off - one by one
taking no more time than it takes to cycle weapons - the dream ends as most good ones do
to find the dreamer - awake with a smile on his or her face
ready to take on anyone

Part two of my absence - almost a repeat - of the last
only the names have - been changed to protect - the innocent
well, OK - they have been changed because four other warriors took part
Still Damien and Khaos - from the last tale - now starring
Roar Elisor Scipio and Krusher
what makes this tale different - other than the players?
they did not lose a single mech - nope not one - Had this been the first tale
the telling would be needed - as it followed another glorious battle
its almost anticlimactic - almost
that they went in and destroyed - everything that was thrown at them - says they just didn’t
want this to be another ordinary battle
so it is not - it is theirs - a great big can - of Whoop-ass was opened - and used well
The battle? - well if you can’t - or haven’t figured that one out
you are not a Wolverine -- and all my telling - still wont make you understand

Finally - back to fight - the last few battles - victories
the last time we faced DDC - it was a rout - this time we are due
and we are going to collect - all that they owe
Sending six into this battle - would not be prudent - a dozen this time - were called
it would be nice - to say that this battle was - different than others - but there can be only so many
opening moves - we send mechs - they send mechs - we fire - they fire - we hit - they hit less
we hit more and more - the story comes from - individual action - not the battle as a whole
we all faced many mechs - most of us destroyed the mechs - that tried to take us out
How to explain - how it was done? - both sides have a plan - he who executes better
wins --- usually
we have molded a great force - warriors that know what it takes to win
warriors that are willing to sacrifice - so the Wolverines - are the victors
Our plan this time - use our enemies tactics against - them
duck and cover - shoot around the obstacles - as Wolverines this is not second nature
we like to jump into the fray - point blank carnage - we should be proud
we beat them at their own game
using their methods - we had a plan - we executed - we triumphed - simple as that

Is anyone else tired of fighting snakes? - slimy bastards - no spines
and if you hear anyone telling you they taste like chicken - just shoot them.
they just slither around - open fire from holes in the ground - drop on your head
from the tops of buildings - they swarm over an enemy - like locusts to a field of grain
there seems to be no - end to their numbers - I swear they breed like rabbits
As agreed we meet once again - to blow each other to bits - grind mech parts
beneath our feet - Our few warriors - against their many
All of ours have been in battle - at least once - there are no rookies anymore
Ok so I lie - there is one - so easy to overlook - because she does not
partake in the puffing of chests, bragging or - otherwise cocky behavior
She comes to kick ass - period -- So much potential - so little time - many to kill
let us begin the battle - shall we? -- we find our team - as usual as we face the
slippery slimy ugly rat bastiches - in a wee predicament - they being their hiding
sniping dodging and otherwise - semi-cheating foe that they are - doing a fairly good job of
picking the few of us off one by one
So we sit back and watch - our rookie in this fight - Lumina get her chance
to sink her claws into - some snakemeat. - Looks to me like she got her fill.
another wolverine blooded - welcome to the clan - next time maybe we -
will be the victors

Yo Ho Ho - and all that - sixteen pirates dead - on a live wolverines - ah, warchest
yeah that is it - well eighteen really - but the song always said sixteen
hate to disrespect the past - this little meating - between us and the pirates
not large enough to - call battle - just a little fun - to keep in the game
we do not want to become - rusty
for honor only - no property - no spoils - victor gains nothing - loser, the same
the only really important - note, somehow - we found our Hunter again
AWOL for a time - we and they fight - trading blow for blow - volley for volley
until the end - they win
the wolverines, not here - in the moment - all thinking of the future

Finally - we get to sink our teeth into the Inner Sphere
I can almost taste the charred flesh - warming the stomachs of our warriors
giving that warm fuzzy feeling all over
After a long down time - finally - we fight
battle lust coursing through pilot and mech
symbiots - each taking from the other
together - we are whole
together - we are death
Foe - scented - spotted - sighted - blasted
foe - lying - quivering - broken
foe - raw carnage
foe - vanquished - how sweet it is
we should have found the Inner Sphere before - we have found them now
at last

More meat from the Inner Sphere
this time - on our turf - can you feel the excitement - are you excited?
these - we have faced before - last time out - we got the better of them - barely
One lone mech - holding the plain - Not acceptable
now ---- we must slaughter - all we find - victory is not - enough
annihilation more - our desire
Time to dance - time to rock - time to get it on Baby
Our first warriors engage - no panic allowed - jobs duties knows
The enemy fires - misses - we do not
lasers - cut through - armor mechs bodies - in cockpits
ammo explosions - twist and distort - the form - of our prey
In a short time - they are ground - between our feet
battered broken - lying in - craters of their - own explosions
We stand undefeated - in our new - theater of battle
Let the party - the celebration - begin,
bring on - the dancing girls

Across the stars the Wolves have returned with an ecstasy of hate
seeking our blood.
Time has not dulled our memories. How can one forget the tragedy imposed on our people? We
remember clearly the actions of the Harbingers of Death who nearly erased the existence of
our clan. The Wolverine name was nearly silenced by genocide and it threatens to happen
again.
Standing firm we gathered our strength and met them in battle. In our fury we crushed our
tormentors like a mother protecting her cubs.
We can not run.
We can not hide.
We must fight.
We have been given no choice.
All Wolverines know of the injustice imposed on us. It was smeared like graffiti across
our honor. This day we received some recompense for our suffering but our hunger for
vengeance is great.
We are the hunters now . the Wolves blood will flow like a river to the Pits of Hell.
